Explorers bare the elements for ShelterBox

03/03/2010
Camping in February may not be everybody’s cup of tea but it's exactly what 1st Tasburgh Explorer Scouts did to fundraise for ShelterBox. The group did a sponsored camp out on 5 February with the target of raising enough money for one ShelterBox – this target was smashed as the Explorers raised over £1,200! This will fund over two ShelterBox’s which will provide shelter, warmth and dignity for over 20 people.

Roger Knight, Assistant Explorer Leader for the group said: ‘We thought that the idea of camping outside in February would be one which people we approached would find hard to believe and therefore worth sponsoring us for - this certainly appeared to be the case!’

Everyone at ShelterBox is grateful for the efforts of the group. Who knows? They may be the next generation of ShelterBox Response Team members!

A sponsored camp out is one of the fantastic ways that your Scout group can take part in Big Green Box Week 2010 and help people all over the world. To find out more about our fun and exciting annual fundraising and awareness raising week, please click here.
