Penrice School’s Hope 4 Haiti single has a new fan – HRH The Duchess of Cornwall!
The pupils gave a special performance of their single for HRH The Duchess of Cornwall when she came to visit Shelterbox HQ in Helston. Penrice School has done a fantastic job fundraising for Shelterbox by recording a single for earthquake victims in Haiti.
Lucy Gaffney, 11, who performs the voiceover part of the song, said: ‘I was really, really nervous, and after we sang the Duchess came over and spoke to me.
‘She asked me if I enjoyed singing the song and told me that she thought it was a really nice thing to do and it was brilliant that we had already raised so much money. She even bought a copy and said that she would look forward to playing it to Prince Charles. ‘
Penrice School’s single has raised nearly £6,000 for Shelterbox, which means they’re not far off their target of sending 15 Shelterboxes to the people of Haiti. If you’d like to help them you can donate at http://www.justgiving.com/songforhaiti
The song is featured in a special video, produced for HRH The Duchess of Cornwall. The video can be seen below:
