Banbury Scouts scavenger hunt a roaring success
40 Cub Scouts from 6 different Cub packs based in and around Banbury, Oxfordshire, took part in a Scavenger Hunt around Banbury town centre on Saturday, September 25. The event helped raise £200 for ShelterBox and was jointly won by cubs from 1st Grimsbury ‘Team C’ and 7th Banbury.
The scavenger hunt was based on the two larger scale events that had taken place earlier in the year in London and Edinburgh. The hunt started in People’s Park in Banbury and saw teams of six carrying a ShelterBox around a circuit navigating the town. The circuit took just over an hour to complete and teams were rewarded extra points for indentifying landmarks along the way.
Jack, aged 9 from 1st Grimsbury Cubs said ‘When we started we thought the Shelterboxes were going to be really heavy, but Akela said that they were empty.
I really enjoyed running around town and finding out the answers to the questions.’
