Small Boxes help ShelterBox

ShelterBox was Dollar Academy Junior School in Clackmannanshire’s chosen charity during their Harvest festival this year. The school spent time exploring a real ShelterBox and finding out what happens in a disaster.

After a presentation, Amy Pope of J2C reported ‘it was quite moving to see people from the areas where disaster had struck and gratifying to see just how much ShelterBox helped them, and how quickly.’ She went on to report, ‘The hall fell silent as the pupils contemplated the terrifying phenomenon . . . . . some people lost everything in real disasters.’

To support ShelterBox’s disaster relief work, each child had covered a small cardboard box with wrapping paper and collected money. After their Harvest Festival assembly every child went forward and emptied the contents of their small boxes and together the school have raised enough to sponsor at least three ShelterBoxes, so well done Dollar Academy!
